The Noise Scape library replicates the cozy warmth distinctive to analog equipment, achieved through atmospheric samples I've recorded.

Why does the mix sound so much more open with this noise?

It's because you're experiencing that natural dithering unique to analog systems. When recording audio, especially delicate material, quantization errors can occur.

Dithering involves introducing a subtle layer of noise to conceal these errors.

This effect is present when incorporating a noise track as well. It's what I like to call 'Natural Dithering'—full of character. Reverb tails and quiet audio elements seamlessly meld with this simple noise.

With this continuous noise, there are no more dead spots. It stimulates the brain and elevates quiet elements.

MAKING OF
I embarked on a journey of recording numerous atmospheric tracks outdoors using my Zoom recorder. Following this, I meticulously edited the finest segments and ran them through my vintage Fender Super Reverb amplifier from 1974. Positioning a Neumann Microphone close to the tubes at the back and an SM57 at the front, I aimed to capture ample dirt, seeking a rich, velvety sound. The inherent instability of the Fender added an extra layer of randomness to the sounds. Additionally, I set up a Fender Champ Xd2 with tremolo from the side to introduce further nuances to the mic recordings. Finally, I seamlessly merged all the recordings together to achieve the desired outcome.
